As 2011 comes to a close, it seems like a good time to reflect on the good work that the Mt. Diablo Health Care District has accomplished this past year:
Over the past three years, over six thousand (6,000) high school freshmen have been trained in CPR. While this may not seem like a significant number to some, because of the district's grants, untold lives may be saved in the future.
We have successfully completed AED installations at all intermediate schools within the district. Plus, we were able to install two (2) defibrillators at the Willow Pass Community Park in Concord, in the event that you are not aware the park houses softball fields that are in use throughout the summer months. This means that you are never more than a three (3) minute walk from a defibrillator while at the fields.
At our January board meeting, we will be receiving updates from many of our grant recipients. These include South Asian Behavioral Health (SABH) and their partner Norcal Transitions, the Wellness City Challenge project at Mt. Diablo High School in Concord, and RotaCare Bay Area. I would invite all members of the public to this meeting to hear about the great things that your tax dollars are doing, and the lives that are being positively affected in your community.
On behalf of the Mt. Diablo Health Care District Board of Directors, I would like to wish you and your family a happy holiday season and a very healthy new year!
Sincerely,
Jeffrey S. Kasper, Chairman
